General:
It is unfortunate that the original Nixon Wills in Ireland did not survive the disastrous fire of Dublin in 1922. However the abstracts of a number of them can be found in the Dublin Castle. Included in this collection is the Will of William Nixon which was dated 8 Oct.1768 and proved 4 May 1769. It is found the name of Allan Nixon, late of Carrickfadd . Dr.Patrick Smythe-Wood, the Irish Geanologist who searched the extant records is of the opinion that "late of Carrickfadd" should be interpreted as meaning that there had been a change of residence rather than a person was desceased
