Andrew Jackson (Jack) Mead and his brothers after they got older apparently were affluent enough to each own a horse as one aquanintance(12] said she remembered the Mead boys riding into St. Mary,Mo. and stirring up the dust by riding their horses in circles just for fun. Jack's son Andrew, recalls a humorous incident told to him about his dad's attempt to catch a wild turkey. "The turkeys appeared every morning in the same place, so he figured he would dig a hole at this spot , get in it and cover himself up with brush hoping the turkeys would walk over this trap--they did and he grabbed
