General:
It has been said that Peter Dean fought for the South during the Civil War. He served as sherrif of Perry County,Missouri.,from 1856 to 1858 and 1868 to 1870. His county court death record stated that he was born in Washington,D.C. and had lived in Missouri about 53 Years.He himself gave his birthplace as Kentucky in census enumerations. A number of his reminiscences were published in Perry County newspapers in 1873.
